Hi, I’m Katie

I’m the founder of Heart & Home Support. I spent many years working as a caregiver, and through my current work in paratransit, I’ve had the opportunity to listen to seniors, adults with disabilities, veterans, caregivers, and families throughout our community.

Those experiences showed me how often people fall into the gap between being completely independent and needing traditional caregiving. Many people simply need a reliable person to help with everyday tasks while respecting their choices and the way they live.

I understand that inviting someone into your home can feel vulnerable, especially when certain tasks have become more difficult. My approach is to pay attention, listen, and learn how you want things done. Your home, routines, preferences, and choices still belong to you. I’m not there to take over—I’m there to make life a little easier while helping you remain in control.

I created Heart & Home Support to provide the practical, dependable help I kept hearing people ask for. I want every person I work with to feel respected, comfortable, and never judged.

In Loving Dedication

Long before I understood what caregiving truly meant, I learned it by watching my grandma, Grandma Sissy.

She was the person people turned to when they needed help, comfort, strength, or simply someone who would stay. Throughout her life, she cared for family members and loved ones through illness, hardship, and the final chapters of their lives. She gave her time, her patience, and her heart freely—not because anyone asked her to, but because caring for people was simply part of who she was.

I was fortunate enough to be one of the people she cared for. Growing up, I watched the way she showed up for others again and again, and without realizing it, she was teaching me what compassion really looks like.

Years later, life brought our story full circle. The woman who had spent so much of her life caring for everyone around her eventually needed someone to care for her—and I had the privilege of being there for her until the end.

She shaped the person I became. She taught me that caring for someone is more than completing a task. It is noticing when someone needs help. It is protecting their dignity. It is listening. It is staying when things are difficult. And sometimes, it is simply making sure another person knows they are not alone.

Heart & Home Support carries that lesson forward.

Every person I help is, in some small way, a continuation of what she taught me: Take care of people, treat them with dignity, and show up when they need you.

This is for her.💜
